Daily Bread

These three young Frisians’ steamy electro-punk, both live and in the studio, is an exhilarating combination of the raw energy of Garage Rock, the recalcitrant attitude of the Dutch Indie scene and Electro dance grooves: powerful, sexy, and exciting. The band invented the term Sexy Garage Dance themselves and this remains the best way to describe Daily Bread’s music. The first album “Well, You’re Not Invited” has been received very well by both the Dutch press and their fans, and the live shows are becoming something of a legend. Few are blessed with an approach to music that is so good, so clever and so convincing at such a young age. And now Daily Bread is cautiously starting to turn its attention to the rest of the world.

Daily Bread has built up quite a reputation in the Netherlands for doing things their way thus turning down the invite to perform at the most prestigious band contest in the Netherlands simply because they couldn’t use their own amplifiers and drum kit stage set up. No musical compromises. However, after this tumultuous start Kimberly the singer, Stefan Stoer (drums) and Chris Mulder (bass) have now embarked upon a new phase of their career. Successful club and festival tours in the Netherlands (including the Lowlands Festival), Germany (Juicy Beats in Dortmund) Switzerland (including the prestigious Paléo festival), Austria, Spain, Norway, Denmark and New York as well as two consecutive appearances at the annual Dutch showcase event Noorderslag Eurosonic have ensured that the band is now an established name on the international live scene. Immediately after the EuroSonic/Noorderslag show, five agents were fighting for the rights to book the band in the rest of Europe. In the meantime, Daily Bread has signed to the renowned booking bureau The Agency Group (TAG) for the U.S.A. TAG is one of the largest booking agencies in the World, representing artists such as The Gaslight Anthem, Gossip and Amy MacDonald. Not bad at all, for a young band who were still entering local band contests three years ago. But also here the band is getting offers from the best bookers in Europe. For France they have closed a deal with 3C and in Switzerland they work closely together with TAKK Switzerland

In spite of all this success, Daily Bread is hungrier than ever and ready for the next step. The trio is working on new songs during the rare breaks in touring, some of which have already been performed during the live set. The new work reveals a more dynamic Daily Bread, balancing the vitality of the debut album with a more sophisticated sound. Now you can often catch an echo of Joy Division and Gang of Four alongside the trademark raw sound of the band. Before the release of the second album, there will be an EP titled Repetition Kills in order to give us a taste of the new material. This EP consisting of two new songs will be added to the worldwide release of the first album. The tracks we’re produced by the Belgian Artist Arne van Petegem (Styrofoam) who is currently working in L.A. on the 2nd album of Meiko

The debut album “Well, You’re Not Invited” will be released shortly in Spain, UK, Germany, Austria, Norway and Switzerland. These fist tentative forays abroad are helping the band to learn and to grow; thankfully without diminishing the band’s natural impudence and cheek. Daily Bread is and always will be in (constant?) development. Time will tell how far they can climb and how big they will be. But already it is more than evident that this trio is capable of great things
